Custom Camp Shirts

Custom camp shirts for directors who need every camper countable at a glance and every counselor easy to find. Summer camp shirts, staff tees, hoodies for cold mornings and hats for the waterfront, printed in Fort Collins, Colorado and shipped across the United States.

There is no minimum order, so a late registration or a replacement counselor is never a problem. You approve a proof before anything is printed, and the design studio below shows your price as you change the quantity.

Design Your Camp Shirts Here

Put your camp name or this summer's theme on a real shirt, set the count, and watch custom camp shirts pricing change as you go. The studio opens on a heavyweight garment-dyed tee with a soft, slightly faded look that suits a lakefront and gets better with washing. Switch garments or colors whenever you like.

No Minimum OrderAdd one shirt for a late camper or a new counselor without reordering the whole run.

Youth and Adult SizesCampers, counselors and directors can all wear the same design on one order.

Custom Camp Shirts Are Safety Gear First

Ask any director what the camp shirt is for and the honest answer is counting. On a field trip, at a public pool or in a crowded trailhead parking lot, a counselor needs to sweep a crowd and pick out every one of their campers in a few seconds.

That job decides the color before any artwork is drawn. Choose something bright and uncommon that strangers are unlikely to be wearing in the same place. Safety yellow, a strong orange or a vivid teal all work. Navy, black and heather gray vanish into a crowd.

Camp staff shirts should be a different color from camper shirts, with the same artwork. A child who is lost or hurt needs to find an adult quickly, and a parent at pickup wants to know who is in charge. Many camps add the word Staff large across the back.

Only after the shirt has done that work does it become a souvenir. The good news is that both jobs fit on one tee. A bright color with well drawn art on the chest is easy to count in July and still gets worn to school in October.

Groups that travel off site often go further and give each cabin, age group or troop patrol its own color. The art and ink stay identical, so it all prints as one run, and only the color of the blank shirts changes from group to group.

Price Camper and Staff Shirts Together

The same artwork and ink on two shirt colors can usually print as one run, which helps the price per piece. Set your counts in the studio and see it.

Late Campers Covered

A family registers the week before camp. With no minimum order, you can add a single shirt in the same design instead of telling a child there is none left.

See It Before It Prints

Every order gets a proof showing the art on your shirt color. Share it with your board or program staff and approve it only when it is right.

Budget Without the Wait

The studio shows the price per piece as you change quantity and print locations, so you can set a registration fee or a camp store price with confidence.

A Person on the Phone

Directors are busy in spring. A person answers the phone on weekdays, 9am to 5pm Mountain, for quick questions about sizes, shirt colors and timing before opening day.

Working Back From Opening Day

Camp has a hard start date that will not move, and shirt sizes depend on a registration list that keeps changing. The way through is to split the order into moments instead of waiting for one perfect list that never arrives.

Registration Opens

Collect a shirt size on the registration form from the first day. It costs nothing, and it means the size list builds itself instead of becoming a round of emails in May.

Staff Training Week

Staff rosters settle earlier than camper lists. Order staff shirts first so counselors have them for training, with more than one each, since they wear them daily.

Opening Day

Place the camper order once the first sessions are mostly full, leaving standard turnaround plus shipping. Add extras in the common youth sizes for registrations that arrive late.

Later Sessions

Top up between sessions as later weeks fill. With no minimum order, a second small run for August campers is routine and saves guessing in the spring.

Standard turnaround is about 14 days from the day you approve the proof, and shipping to a rural camp address can add more than you expect. Have the artwork approved well before the size list is final, so the only thing left to send is the count. If the date gets tight, ask, because sometimes it can be done faster.

Choosing Shirts That Survive a Summer

A camp shirt has a harder life than almost any other printed tee. It is worn for days, soaked in a lake, rubbed with sunscreen and bug spray, and stuffed damp into a duffel. Heavier cotton holds its shape through that better than a thin fashion tee.

Garment-dyed tees are a camp favorite because they arrive already soft and slightly faded. Know that the dye process means shade varies a little from shirt to shirt and from one order to the next. On a trail that reads as character. If you need an exact match for counting, a standard dyed tee is more consistent.

Screen printing is the right method for most summer camp shirts. The ink bonds well to cotton, holds up to repeated washing, and costs less per piece as the count rises. Keeping the design to one or two ink colors stretches the budget further across a full camp.

For cold mornings and campfires, hoodies and long sleeve tees are the pieces campers ask to take home. They also sell well in a camp store. Full color artwork, like an illustrated map of the property, is a better fit for direct-to-film than for screens.

We make t-shirts, long sleeve tees, tank tops, polos, hoodies, hats and beanies. We do not make bandanas, drawstring bags, swimwear or rain jackets, so plan those from another supplier and match the color to your camp shirt as closely as you can.

Opening Day Getting Close

Tell us your first session date, the rough count and where the boxes need to go. We will tell you plainly whether standard turnaround fits.

Artwork for Custom Camp Shirts That Kids Keep

The best camp designs are simple enough for a child to draw from memory. A lake, a pine, a canoe paddle, the camp name in strong lettering. Detail that looks lovely on a screen, like fine crosshatching or a thin script, tends to fill in or break up on fabric.

Think about the youth small. Artwork that sits well across an adult chest can wrap toward the armpits on a small child, so designs are usually scaled down for the smallest sizes. A compact, roughly square layout survives that better than a long horizontal banner.

Leave room for a name. Plenty of camps print a blank bar or box on the back or at the hem where a parent can write a name in laundry marker. It costs almost nothing in ink and it empties the lost and found.

Decide whether the shirt is dated. A year or a theme makes it a keepsake and encourages returning families to collect each one. An undated design lets you carry leftovers into next summer. Some camps keep staff shirts undated and change the camper shirt every year.

If all you have is an old patch, a sketch from a counselor or a scan of a brochure, send it. Rough logos can be cleaned up or redrawn so the lines print sharp, and you will see the result on the proof.

Camp Shirt Questions

Is there a minimum order for custom camp shirts?

No. You can order one shirt, which helps with late registrations, replacement counselors and a single lost tee. The price per piece drops as the quantity goes up, so a full camp pays less per shirt than a small troop. Set your count in the design studio to see the price for your custom camp shirts.

When should we place our order?

Standard turnaround is about 14 days from the day you approve the proof, plus shipping to your address. Get the artwork approved early, then send the final count once most campers are registered. If opening day is close and you are worried, ask. Sometimes an order can be done faster, though it is not guaranteed.

Can staff and campers have different shirt colors?

Yes, and it is a good idea. When the artwork and ink color stay the same, changing the blank shirt color for camp staff shirts usually needs no new setup, so the shirts can print together as one run. Choose an ink color that reads clearly on both shirt colors, often white or black.

Do custom camp shirts come in youth sizes?

Yes. Most custom camp shirts orders mix youth and adult sizes in one design. The art is usually scaled down for the smallest shirts so it sits on the chest properly. Not every garment style and color is offered in youth sizes, so check your chosen shirt in the studio before you promise a color.

Will the print hold up to lake water and daily washing?

A properly cured screen print on cotton is built for it and usually outlasts the shirt itself. Wash inside out in cool water and skip the hot dryer when you can. Sunscreen and bug spray can stain or yellow fabric over a summer, which is one more reason bright and mid-tone shirts beat white.

Can we tie-dye the shirts at camp?

Yes. Order white cotton tees, since dye takes best on cotton, and plan the print with that in mind. A screen printed design in a dark ink stays visible after dyeing, while light ink can pick up a tint. Tell us you are planning to dye them and we can suggest an ink color for your custom camp shirts.

Can you print each camper's name on the shirt?

For most camps a printed write-in box is the practical answer. It adds a blank space on the back or hem where families write a name in marker, and it prints as part of the same design. Individual printed names take more time and coordination, so ask about that early if you want it.

Do you ship to camps outside Colorado?

Yes. The shop is in Fort Collins, Colorado, and orders ship across the United States. Use an address where someone can receive boxes before staff arrive, since many camp properties are empty in spring. If you have questions, a person answers the phone on weekdays from 9am to 5pm Mountain.
