DTF
Direct-to-Film Printing
Full-Color Prints Without Limits
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing delivers photographic-quality, full-color transfers that bond to virtually any fabric. No color limits. No minimum order quantities. No restrictions on artwork complexity.
This method is built for designs that demand more than traditional printing can offer: gradients, photo-realistic images, intricate detail, and vivid color on both dark and light garments. If screen printing setup does not make sense for your run size, DTF is the answer.
The DTF Process
Design
Send us your artwork in any common file format. Full-color designs, photographs, gradients, and fine detail all work perfectly with DTF.
Print Film
Your design is printed in full color onto a specialized PET film, then coated with a hot-melt adhesive powder that bonds to fabric.
Heat Press
The printed film is heat-pressed onto your garment or item. The transfer bonds permanently, creating a vibrant, flexible print.
Ship
Orders are quality-checked and shipped directly to you anywhere in the US. Split shipping across multiple addresses is available.
Features & Capabilities
DTF printing opens the door to projects that other methods simply cannot handle. Here is what makes it stand out.
Full-Color Photographic Prints
No color count limits. Print photographs, complex gradients, and millions of colors in a single pass. Your design prints exactly as you see it on screen.
No Minimum Orders
Need one piece? Ten? A thousand? DTF does not require screens, setup fees, or minimum quantities. Order exactly what you need, when you need it.
Thin, Flexible Transfers
DTF transfers are thin and flexible, not stiff or plasticky. The result is a soft hand feel that moves naturally with the fabric and stays comfortable.
Dark and Light Garments
DTF includes a white base layer built into the transfer, so your colors stay vibrant on black, navy, and every other dark fabric. Light garments look just as sharp.
Durable Through Washing
DTF prints hold up wash after wash without cracking, peeling, or fading. The heat-bonded adhesive creates a permanent connection between the transfer and the fabric.
Quick Turnaround
No screens to burn, no lengthy setup. DTF goes straight from digital file to printed film to finished garment, which means faster production and faster delivery.
Ideal for Detailed Designs
Intricate line work, tiny text, photographic imagery, and multi-color gradients all reproduce cleanly. If your design is too complex for screen printing, DTF handles it.
Perfect for Short Runs
When the job is too small for screen printing setup to make financial sense, DTF is the right call. Same quality output at quantities that work for your budget.
Items Screen Printing Cannot Touch
Bags, shoes, hats, performance wear, canvas, leather, and more. DTF transfers can be applied to surfaces and materials that screen printing simply cannot reach.
Works on Any Fabric
Unlike screen printing or sublimation, DTF bonds to virtually any material. If you can heat-press it, you can DTF it.
Cotton
100% cotton tees, hoodies, and sweatshirts. The most popular base for DTF.
Polyester
Performance wear, jerseys, and athletic apparel. No dye migration issues.
Blends
Cotton-poly blends, tri-blends, and any mixed fabric. DTF handles them all equally.
Nylon
Jackets, bags, and outerwear. DTF bonds cleanly to nylon at lower press temps.
Leather
Wallets, patches, bags, and accessories. Heat-press at reduced temperature for clean adhesion.
Canvas
Tote bags, shoes, aprons, and heavy-duty textiles. Thick or thin, DTF sticks.
Denim
Jackets, jeans, and denim accessories. Full-color prints on a rugged base.
Spandex & Lycra
Activewear and stretch fabrics. The flexible transfer moves with the material.
