Why Most Shops Make You Order Twenty-Four
Traditional screen printing has a real setup cost. Every color in your design needs its own screen burned, coated and mounted on the press. That work costs the same whether the run is twelve shirts or twelve hundred, so shops set a minimum to keep from losing money on tiny jobs.
Nothing about that is dishonest. It is just how the equipment works. The problem is that it pushes the whole industry into telling anybody with a small order to go away.
We do the same screen printing for larger runs, because past a certain count it is genuinely the better and cheaper way to print. But we also run digital printing, which has no screens and no setup, and it handles the small stuff.
So the studio prices your job both ways and quietly gives you the cheaper one. You never pick. You just see a number.
At small quantities the number of colors in your artwork does not change your price at all, because digital printing does not care how many colors it lays down. A six-color design costs the same as a one-color design until the run gets big enough that screen printing takes over. That is usually somewhere around two dozen shirts.
What One Shirt Actually Costs
Here is the honest shape of it. A single custom tee lands around twenty dollars. Twelve brings it into the mid teens. Two dozen puts it near fifteen, and by four dozen you are under thirteen.
The curve is steep at the start and then it flattens out. Most of the savings you are ever going to get happen between one shirt and about fifty.
That is why the studio shows you the price live instead of hiding it behind a form. If the number at your quantity does not work, you can move the quantity and watch what happens rather than emailing somebody and waiting a day to find out.

You approve a proof on every order, at every quantity. If we get it wrong after that, we reprint it or refund you.
When a Single Shirt Makes Sense
A sample before you commit the whole team. A gift. A prototype of the merch design you are about to put on a table at a show. A replacement for the one guy who never got his the first time around.
It is also the honest way to test a print. Order one, hold it, wash it, then order the rest with confidence.
The one thing a single shirt is not is the cheap way to buy shirts. If you know you need a dozen, buy the dozen. The per-shirt price is dramatically better and the total is barely different from buying them one at a time.

Set the Quantity to One and See
The studio will quote a single shirt as readily as five hundred. No form, no minimum, no phone call.
Where the Price Breaks Actually Land
The studio has real quantity breaks at 12, 24, 48, 72, 144, 288 and 500. Crossing one of those lines drops your per-shirt price, and the drop between 24 and 48 is the biggest one most people will ever hit.
If you are sitting at 44 shirts it is worth checking what 48 costs. Sometimes four more shirts makes the whole order cheaper, not just cheaper per shirt.
Two things move with volume at the same time. The blank itself gets cheaper because we buy deeper, and the printing gets cheaper because setup spreads further. Both are already baked into the number the studio shows you.
No Minimum Questions
Do you really print just one shirt?
Yes. One shirt is a normal order here, not a favor. You design it, you see the price, you check out. Nothing about the process changes because the number is small.
Why is one shirt so much more per shirt than twenty-four?
Because the work of setting up a print does not get smaller when your order does. Somebody still handles the file, sets the machine, prints, checks it, folds it and boxes it. Spread across one shirt that work is the whole cost. Spread across twenty-four it is pocket change per shirt.
Is there a setup fee on a single shirt?
No separate setup line. At small quantities we print digitally, which has no screens to burn and no per-color charge. The price you see in the studio is the price.
Does the number of colors in my design change the price?
Not on small orders. Under about two dozen shirts we print digitally and colors are free, so a six-color design costs the same as a one-color design. Once the count gets high enough that screen printing is cheaper, color count starts to matter and the studio switches you over automatically.
Can I order a few now and more later?
You can. The second order is priced on its own, so twelve now and twelve next month costs more than twenty-four today. If you know you want more, ordering them together is the cheaper move.
What if it shows up wrong?
We reprint it or refund you. You also approve a proof before anything runs, so you see exactly what we are about to print.
